The original desks were very simple affairs. However the writing of memoirs and letters enlarged greatly in the France of Louis XV! This new authorship called for an incomparable piece of furniture. Our esteemed desk includes a black base, gold hardware and decorative trim. The desk top appears to almost float over its shaped aprons and graceful cabriole legs.
